when will the spam end?

even though not a single spam comment has been published on my site in over a year and even though google constantly changes their algorithm to punish those types of links I still get 200 spam comments a day, whyyyyyyy?????

taking url squatting to a new level

a friend of mine accidentally let his host package expire which included his url. the url was kinda long and including his unique name, in other words, it was no "cool.com." who snapped in up to hold it for ransom?

NAME.NET LLC

now my friend can bid on his own url using name.net's services in the hopes of getting it back for at least twice the price. what a bargain. for shame name.net, for shame.

interesting...

since I upgraded movabletype which powers this blog and the others hosted here, I've noticed an interesting new feature: comment throttling. it's supposed to thwart spammers by limiting the amount of comments you can post in x amount of seconds. only problem is 2 of the hosted blogs are 9 hours in the future from mine and the 4th. lemme break it down for you. so I can't post on my own blog nor can others for 9 hours from the time we posted on the blogs of the spanish persuasion. interesting.

the site, as you can tell is back up and running, wahoo! I still have to recreate the photoblog from scratch and fix some of the templates but all in all, things are running along nicely on my new mysql db

...we have a problem. as you can tell the pop up comments have failed (you can still leave comments by clicking on the permalink of this entry which is the time this was posted I believe?) and even tho you see archives, they aren't really there. also, I can't post as sugi_grl, nanaPIC! is completely gone and nanalog has database corruption issues. I'm pretty sure I'm not going to figure this out anytime soon so in the meantime enjoy the other blogs nanalog hosts - while you can - ::siiiiiiiiiiiiigh::

rough week

well this has been a tough week but if I go into it, people might get upset and I don't have time to deal with that kind of bs lately. but tonight me and fahy and bp and johnny are gonna see dirty pretty things and have drinks! yay audrey tautou! yay drinks!

couple things about the site: I've added a recent comments section over there on the right, and I've moved the css file the other 4 pages of this site references from out of the password protected blog directory so if people want to see the pics, links, portfolio, random images, the page actually loads correctly and doesn't look like poop. I said poop. oh and I'm also working on a site for derek's dad: accessibilitysolutions.net, and I'm very excited and proud to be a part of such a noble and worthy company, all the best to him!

additions

holy carp bp you don't miss a thing: I added a comps section to my pics page of movie posters that I've been a part of one way or another in my time here (don't forget the website!!) I also updated vegas '03, hawaii '02 and added a picture of a (need I say a little tossed) mike holding the diggah. oh yeah and another cli� gem of digger panting from the perspective of his paw, man it's hot in glendale!

shake yo horns!

looky! ever since I first started making my website from scratch I've been trying to put text over an image... sounds easy, seems like it should be easy and it IS easy but I just never knew how to do such a simple feat: I asked the "it" guy at my last company (total waste of space) and he didn't know but instead tried to make me feel stupid by talking off topic about javascripts and his stupid php website. so I have gone way out of my way to achieve the same result with iframes and setting the image to be the background, or with div layers like on the digger layout but it was like iframes with the handicap of absolute positioning and the ever-growing scroll bar as the hidden content extended. these horrible hacks I'm happy to say are in the past! I can't believe everytime I thought to myself why can't I just set the background of a table or cell... I didn't just TRY IT! anyways that makes me happy, nana!

new layout

everything is all jacked up right now, the picture pages, the background of the picture pages, the css on the blog... but the menu on the bottom is cool right? RIGHT!? haha and I got rid of iframes (yay!) except on the links page... not like anyone cares tho
