the coen bros

1.	blood simple: didn't see it, mike said it was good
2.	raising arizona: classic, hilarious, best way to watch nicolas cage
3.	miller's crossing: another classic, made me a huge john turturro and gabriel byrne fan
4.	barton fink: seen most of it, love turturro and john goodman
5.	the hudsucker proxy: took a couple watches to appreciate, now one of my favorite movies for the dialogue, jennifer jason leigh is perfect
6.	fargo: huge movie
7.	the big lebowski: one of my top 5 favorites movies
8.	o brother, where art thou? : great movie, great music, actually made clooney look good
9.	the man who wasn't there: didn't see it
10.	intolerable cruelty: didn't see it but I'm sure as far as romantic comedies go, and for people who can stomach catherine zeta-jones, it was a perfectly good movie
11.	the ladykillers: eh. but I'm still thinking about the movie days later as opposed to being entertained while watching other movies and never giving them another thought.

prince inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame

It was clearly Prince's night, though, as he opened the ceremony with a trio of 1980s hits and came out later to upstage Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne and Harrison's son, Dhani, on "While My Guitar Gently Weeps." -Salon

I happened to catch this performance flipping through the channels sunday night. I'm pretty sure it was the first time I ever heard "while my guitar gently weeps" which jendhi had mentioned after hearing the grey album but I had no idea what she was talking about. first of all it's just about the prettiest song ever, 2nd of all there were at least 4 acoustic guitars on stage producing the most beautiful full sound and tom petty and apparently jeff lynne on vocals. breathtaking. even on tv: I can't even imagine how much better it must have sounded to be in the audience. then prince came out on electric and literally stole the show. I felt like how I would imagine I would watching jimi hendrix. I'm adding prince to my list of guitarists.

ala hi fideilty I wanted to make a lists category. when I was in high school, I used to constantly worry about who my top 5 favorite guitarists were, I can't even remember it now but I think slash was on it and eric clapton. this morning on the way to work I was listening to an old faith no more record on my new ipod and missing mike patton and singers of his calibre in general. something awful said it best:

I’m sure this has happened to you: you’re tuned to your local modern rock station, listening to Linkin Park quietly lamenting the death of rock and roll, when suddenly a song comes on that you don’t immediately recognize; miraculously, it doesn’t sound super-compressed and mashed together with Pro Tools. You can actually hear the sound of real guitars and drums. Just as you’re starting to get curious, you realize that the station’s randomized computer playlist has simply hit upon its monthly spin of, for example, Don’t Look Back in Anger by Oasis. Your face flushes with shame and rage as you realize that Oasis, no matter how severely they sucked in 1994, are starting to sound comparatively pretty good. Maybe, you think, if Oasis was brand new in 2004, it would be the best new band around. Do you know what this is called? This is called pure human tragedy.

I saw one blog with a list of food neuroses so I started to think of my own and I've only come up with 1 so far:

1.	I like all things lemon: lemon bars, lemon cookies, lemon pie: but I don't like a slice of lemon in my water. I like to think it's because I'm a water purist.
