ipod nano [PLUS] nike+ [PLUS] nike amp = zero support
Sure the nike+ is cool, motivating even, but don't expect any kind of tech support should you need it. If you call the number on the nikeplus.com website 800-379-6453 you get a menu, "press 2 for nike+ support", only that connects you to Apple. 5 of the people at the Apple extension that I talked to hadn't even heard of nike+ ... soooo that's helpful, methinks that menu is a touch misleading. If you "press 3 for all other nike products" you get Nike but 5 of the people I talked to said nike+ is put out by Apple and to talk to them. Why the masochistic need to talk to someone about my nike+? It's supposed to last for 1000 hours or 5 pairs of running shoes, mine lasted for approximately 66 hours. Walking around to activate the sensor didn't. I couldn't figure it out. And none of the loophole idiots at the 800 number ("your nano is past its warranty, you don't qualify for phone support" "nike what?" "talk to nike" "it's put out by apple, talk to apple") would help. So after I lost an 8 mile run, I went to the Apple store. I was prepared to make a scene because my track record with Apple has been,"oh it's broken? fuck you, buy a new one" (iPhone). So after pleading my case of being on the phone for an hours being tossed back and forth between Apple and Nike they exchanged my kit for a new one. Joy. I get home, plug it in, everything works, I start to go for a run, hit pause on my nike amp to unpause my nano and start my run and I hear "work out ended" or whatever the lady says at the end. So I pull out my nano and to restart only I get the "walk around to activate your sensor" and it wasn't working. AGAIN! Well guess what I figured out after I rebooted my nano and the sensor was activated: the nike amp sleeps the sensor. That means my sensor wasn't dead and I didn't need to exchange it for a new one - way to go tech support! ::sarcasm:: Hopefully this will help someone googling this same problem since the nike amp is so new and isn't being discussed yet. pfffffffff Posted by sugi_grl at January 3, 2008 8:05 PMComments
