Posted by: jendhi at April 30, 2004 08:36 AMthat's hilarious. i loves wrong numbers. some guy once called me and left a message to pick him up from prison.
Posted by: noodleneck at April 30, 2004 08:50 AMI got a cold sales call once where I played dumb and said I was new and that everyone was at lunch and the guy said "well why don't you get off your fat ass!..."
and I got some solicitors once that were trying to sell vegas packages by trying to get me to have a conversation with them but I just kept saying no interest, don't go, never been.. until he said "I can see you don't get out much!" I think it was more in his tone of voice
Posted by: sugigrl at April 30, 2004 08:52 AMoh as for wrong messages we got:
-a school calling for us to pick up a kid
-an elderly gentleman left 3 messages trying to make a doctor's appt
-various messages in various languages
good times :)
Posted by: meh at April 30, 2004 09:00 AMthere's too many crazy stories, hard to pick one........
guess my favs are when people call and say, "someone just paged me or this number showed up on my caller ID" (super accusatory), and I'm like, "well what would you like me to do w/ this information?" THEN I go into a super long speech, explaining what a PBX number is and how its the main trunk of over 200 lines, any of which could have called you but if you would like me to start reading off the personnel list, I'M SURE WE CAN TRACK DOWN THE CULPRIT!!!" **click**
but i love answering the phone!!
Posted by: paris at April 30, 2004 09:14 AMwe used to get some old old lady calling every so often early on a saturday morning (7-8am) for "manolita" and she never ever never ever understood that she had the wrong number. at first we used to jump up wondering who was calling and then we would just let the answering machine get it and she'd say things like "don't forget to bring the pigs feet to the church picnic" and other random events.
and this was for the 2-3 years we lived there!
stop calling you old bag! LOL!
Posted by: jendhi at April 30, 2004 09:17 AMoh yeah... snake thought to tell the old lady that manolita died. but i thought that might be mean.
Posted by: jendhi at April 30, 2004 09:18 AMsnake was on vacation my 2nd week of work when i first moved here. so my phone rings and i'm like "sí" and all i hear is breathing and then *click*. then my phone rings again and i'm like "sí" and all i hear is breathing and then *click. this happens 2 more times and i'm like "why are people being mean to me and crank calling me on my 2nd week here!
and so anyways, i go home from work and txema calls me that night and was like "i tried to call you at work mutliple times - what happened?"
turns on the guy downstairs (he's got wires crossed for sure and he's a dinosaur - he asks questions at company meetings like "this concept of an employee handbook is interesting. can it include information on low interest rates for home mortgages")... anyways, he didn't know how to transfer the call and so i was hearing him breath before he hung up thinking he transferred it.
:p
Posted by: jendhi at April 30, 2004 10:06 AMI just told my "supervisors" about the calls and they said it would have been funny if I had transferred her to them and they had listened to whatever she had to say and they said "ok talk to you later" *click*! :)
