the coen bros
| 1. | blood simple: didn't see it, mike said it was good | 2. | raising arizona: classic, hilarious, best way to watch nicolas cage |
| 3. | miller's crossing: another classic, made me a huge john turturro and gabriel byrne fan |
| 4. | barton fink: seen most of it, love turturro and john goodman |
| 5. | the hudsucker proxy: took a couple watches to appreciate, now one of my favorite movies for the dialogue, jennifer jason leigh is perfect |
| 6. | fargo: huge movie |
| 7. | the big lebowski: one of my top 5 favorites movies |
| 8. | o brother, where art thou? : great movie, great music, actually made clooney look good |
| 9. | the man who wasn't there: didn't see it |
| 10. | intolerable cruelty: didn't see it but I'm sure as far as romantic comedies go, and for people who can stomach catherine zeta-jones, it was a perfectly good movie |
| 11. | the ladykillers: eh. but I'm still thinking about the movie days later as opposed to being entertained while watching other movies and never giving them another thought. |
Yes...most unfortunately, i must say that "the ladykillers" was a damn disappointment. Not a complete piece of crap (the coen brothers are not capable of COMPLETE crap) however it lacked the magic and brilliance that i have come to demand from such great filmakers. If you are new to the Coen Bros, my top 5 would be:
1.) The Big Lebowski
2.) Miller's Crossing
3.) Barton Fink
4.) Raising Arizona
5.) Fargo
Classics for all time.
So go rent them.
dang... i've only seen The Big Lebowski and the hudsucker proxy and parts of raising arizona when it's shown on tv.
dude! i'm totally i'm missing out!
Well, I must say the Big Lebowski is my favourite as well.
I would also have to say that the best way to watch Nicolas Cage is in the unemployment office.
Have you guys watched 'Double Team', with Van Damm and Dennis Rodman? Wow, THAT's a fucking classic. I saw the preview the other day (in an old rental) and went and bought it immediately. Watched it twice in a week, and I love it even more. GET IT.

Raising Arizona
Millers Crossing
Fargo
Big Lebowski
The man who wasn't there
They should use Steve Buscemi more often!

Posted by: sugigrl at April 7, 2004 12:03 PMRaising Arizona rocks!! I always sit thru it, if I catch it on TV. Didn't know Intolerable Cruelty was a Coen Bros flick, may actually consider watching it now....
Posted by: claudia at April 8, 2004 07:30 AMwell they wrote the adapted screenplay, just like ladykillers, maybe that's why ladykillers didn't work for them since it wasn't their own original material...
Posted by: sugigrl at April 8, 2004 07:38 AMWould you update already!?!?! Po-lease!!
