the grey album

so everybody is buzzing about dj danger mouse's grey album: one part jay z's acapella black album, one part samples of the beatles' white album. EMI is having a heart attack and driving up the popularity of the album. I've heard it and I'm not blown away but alot of people over at metafilter are and think those that aren't either don't like hip-hop or don't understand how difficult this ambitious undertaking must have been. I think something so ambitious should be more fruitful. mark vidler's beatles' "a day in the life" vs. radiohead's "karma police" for instance is worthy of this type of fuss, but I guess I just don't understand hip-hop :P Posted by nanapodes at February 18, 2004 3:05 PM
