quiznos jumping on the band wagon

my coworker sent me this email today:
spongemonkeys
Have you seen these horrible Quizno's commercials?

they look like deformed rodents. Why would you ever want your food company to be associated with rodents? Why???

I dunno, because lots of people saw the original and quiznos is trying to appeal to those lots of people who saw it?

sugigrl: hey have you seen any tv commercials lately?
sugigrl: quiznos is using the rathergood.com sponge monkeys
sugigrl: first of all, those things are really disgusting and 2nd of all, they are at least 1 year old
DrumLoopsBlow: it must be your lucky day. i watched tv for about 5 minutes yesterday and i saw that commercial.
DrumLoopsBlow: i thought it was great, but my sister thought they were disgusting too
sugigrl: well I like the song, I find it very cute in an adam sandler kind of way
DrumLoopsBlow: (it was on spike tv, so this might explain the demographic disparity)
sugigrl: but I think the things are so ugly
DrumLoopsBlow: ugly is the new attractive
sugigrl: HA

These commercials are the absolute worst I have ever seen. They make me wonder why roadkill is singing in a commercial. At this rate no one will want to eat at Quizno's. I sure don't.

I cannot believe anyone in the food business would even consider spending a penny on a commercial that makes people SICK!!! I FINALLY called one of their stores today and asked if they've had any other complaints. The guy who answered the phone seemed shocked that I was trying to complain. I asked what other people have said and he said," Oh, they just say; It's interesting." DUHHH! That is NOT a complement! Please call the stores in your areas and tell them what you all think. Maybe then, they'll get a clue.

I thought the commercials were hilarious!!!! They wanted to come up with something that would get peoples attention and it worked. Everyone at work was talking about it the other day. hehe, funny stuff.

My girlfriend actually wrote into their marketing department when she first saw the commercial to complain about the association of what appeared to be a rodent to one of her favorite sandwich places. She was appalled by the sponge monkeys and thought it was the most ridiculous thing she had ever seen.

They responded by saying their target demographic appears to be young people who are willing to try new things. These people appear to be big on humor and like things that are out in left field.

Well, ironically, that describes my girlfriend and I. We fit their target demographic like a rubber glove. However, we didnt think it was funny at all. We thought it was dumb and annoying.

However, people are talking about it. THey are getting a lot of free publicity. The question then becomes is bad publicity better than no publicity? I think the long term financial success of the company will answer that.

Those sponge monkeys are awesome. They're really funny too! Whenever I see that commercial it just cracks me up! And actually... I've never eaten at Quizno's but the commercial makes me want to!!

The Sponge Monkeys are the best commercial duo since Bartels & James. If you don't like them, you should ask yourself, "Why am I so boreing? Why do people say I don't have a sence of humor? Why does it smell like feet in here?" The guy on the right with the guitar & pirate hat is under rated. He obvioulsy has the most talent in the group and is the real reason for their success.
